About
i want to start a ‘financial wellness’ project!
before 18, i was very good at being careful and not wasteful with resources. this was in part due to my parents not making or having much money. then things went downhill in my late teens, throughout college, and my younger adult years as i sought some emotional relief through spending. and now my financial situation has been feeling like a mess for about a decade.
this sucks. and, it’s tiring. i’m worried about money often, my assets are minimal, and i think that when i die, any savings i have will have to be used immediately to pay off all my debt. (thank goodness i prefer to be cremated at death to minimize funereal expenses!) and i’m not even much of a spender and/or a materialist! well, in theory anyway and these days at least.
this project will take the form of a blog. its potential content:
- share what i’ve learned about DEBT: accumulating it, managing it, overcoming it
- talk about SAVINGS and why they matter, how to go about building them, learn about their various forms
- FRUGAL LIVING — not necessarily as an ascetic, but comfortably and contentedly
- about INVESTING and how to do it, what it is and who it’s for, the benefits, its various forms
- on FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE — my work towards financial stability and strength
- BOOK REVIEWS (i love to read self-help personal finance books. i can’t help myself!)
- on sources of and building INCOME
goals for this project:
- help myself get out of debt, leave credit reliance, no longer worry about money, become financially stable and strong, become wealthy; cultivate personal inner peace and harmony
- satisfy my need to write, share my constant stream of thoughts and ideas, continuously study and explore self-improvement (self-help, personal development)
- hopefully help others reexamine their own financial situations, and show how it is possible for the average person to climb out of financial confusion and onto financial wellness
- explore the relationships between money and the human psyche
- potentially make some small side income with the site through advertising, etc. (hey, i’m being honest and practical!)
- explore a potential future freelance career as a financial adviser (CFP)
i will put out the site under a pseudonym. close family and friends would of course know who’s really behind the words, but i’d feel more comfortable if the whole world didn’t know exactly who i am and what i do or do not have and do!
there are already a handful of popular personal finance management blog sites. some are written by one person, while others are by a community of contributors. i am impressed that many writers have been able to get to where they are today with their large readerships and advertisers. i have been personally enjoying their articles myself. however, i am not utterly intimidated (ok, maybe just a little!), but rather inspired to pursue my own version.
please wish me luck!
what do you think ?
do you support this endeavor ?
do you have any suggestions or advice about this goal ?
do you have any requests of specific topics for my future posts ?

Welcome to the PF neighborhood! I’m really impressed in what you’ve put together in the relatively short time you’ve been blogging.
I’ve looked into some of the CPF stuff myself… intimidating, isn’t it? I wish you the best if you decide to go that path!
I plan to submit a post to your DIY Jubilee this week or next, so you’ll be hearing more from me soon
