using 43things to further your financial goals

tools

last year, i came across an awesome web tool (built on the ruby on rails framework) called 43things.

43things is a goal tracking system. a registered user can choose or come up with up to 43 goals to prioritize them, write about them, provide updates, delete them, give up on them, and change them. true to the web 2.0 spirit, she can also share them with other users, and can even cc her blog on the goals’ entry updates if desired. you can also connect with friends you know who use 43things, although there is a lot of anonymity at 43things, and users often times use pseudonyms so that they may be more open and honest about their dreams and progress reports.

although the usual thing to do is to create one user account for yourself under which to list all your goals, there is no reason one can not create multiple personal accounts to handle one’s various life facets. therefore, although i have been using 43things under one account for all my various types of goals, i’ve decided to create a separate user, thefwproject, to handle my financial goals, as i will share them here at FWP.

one might wonder — what the point might be of bothering with a 43things online account if one already has his/her own blog website? i like to think of my 43 things account pages as ‘extensions’ to my own blog site. since one can also integrate a view of his 43things in an external web page, clicking on a given 43thing will lead easily to the 43things site.

creating an account and setting up a few goals to start is easy. just visit 43things to get started right away!

what do you think? have you tried 43things already, and if so, what is your take on the tool?

would you recommend it to others?

do you already use something similar, and if so, what might that be?

please share with us below :D
